The Fijian culture encourages conservative dress codes for locals. Women are almost fully clothed from head to toe and men usually wear 'sulus' or long skirts as this is the respectable and appropriate attire in the villages on the main island(s). While on vacation at Tavarua Island Resort, we ask that you be aware of these cultural dress norms. As the island offers a relaxed environment, we recommend casual resort wear during the day (swimwear, board shorts, coverups, tank tops, shorts, sandals, hats, and protective sun-wear). In the evenings, casual elegance is suggested. Options include summer dresses, skirts, and blouses for ladies and collared shirts and trousers for men. During mealtimes, we ask that ladies wear a beach coverup or sarong while in and around the dining area(s). Vinaka for understanding and respecting our beloved Fijian culture!
